Beach Patterns
My training as a designer makes me seek out pattern and detail for my paintings. Orkney's edges, where land meets sea, provide a rich source of material. Skaill and Waulkmill, my two favourite beaches, give me contrasts. Wind and tides throw everything at the former while Waulkmill, as a sheltered, light-drenched bay, has a much calmer feel. Inspiration is never lacking on visits to both.
